Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets forth prohibited uses of the One Million Small Startups platform and services. This policy applies to all users, including supporters, organizers, and visitors. Violation of this policy may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. Prohibited Activities
1.1 Illegal Activities
You may not use our platform to:
- Violate any local, state, federal, or international laws or regulations
- Promote, facilitate, or engage in illegal activities
- Sell, distribute, or promote illegal goods or services
- Engage in money laundering, terrorist financing, or financial fraud
- Violate sanctions, export controls, or embargoes
- Facilitate tax evasion or tax fraud
1.2 Fraudulent or Deceptive Practices
You may not:
- Create false, misleading, or deceptive campaigns
- Misrepresent your identity, organization, or purpose
- Impersonate another person, organization, or entity
- Provide false information about tax-deductibility
- Manipulate platform metrics or artificially inflate engagement
- Use bots, fake accounts, or automated systems to deceive users
- Engage in phishing, social engineering, or identity theft
1.3 Abuse and Harassment
You may not:
- Harass, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Engage in cyberbullying or targeted harassment
- Post or share content that promotes violence or harm
- Dox others (share private personal information without consent)
- Stalk or persistently contact others against their wishes
- Coordinate harassment campaigns
1.4 Hateful or Discriminatory Content
You may not post content that:
- Promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on:
- Race, ethnicity, or national origin
- Religion or religious beliefs
- Gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation
- Disability or medical condition
- Age
- Veteran status
- Caste or social status
- Denies well-documented historical atrocities (Holocaust denial, genocide denial)
- Promotes supremacist ideologies or hate groups
1.5 Sexual or Explicit Content
You may not post:
- Pornography or sexually explicit material
- Non-consensual intimate images
- Content sexualizing minors
- Solicitation of sexual services
- Nudity (except for breastfeeding, medical/educational contexts, or artistic works)
1.6 Violent or Graphic Content
You may not post:
- Excessive gore or graphic violence
- Content glorifying violence or suffering
- Instructions for creating weapons or explosives
- Content promoting self-harm or suicide
- Animal cruelty or abuse
1.7 Spam and Manipulation
You may not:
- Send unsolicited bulk messages (spam)
- Create duplicate accounts or campaigns
- Engage in coordinated inauthentic behavior
- Manipulate platform features (vote stuffing, fake reviews)
- Post repetitive, irrelevant, or off-topic content
- Use misleading links or clickbait
1.8 Intellectual Property Violations
You may not:
- Upload copyrighted material without permission
- Use others' trademarks or logos without authorization
- Sell counterfeit goods
- Violate patents or trade secrets
- Claim others' work as your own (plagiarism)
1.9 Security and System Integrity
You may not:
- Attempt to hack, breach, or bypass platform security
- Access other users' accounts without permission
- Distribute malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Conduct denial-of-service (DoS) attacks
- Scrape or harvest data without permission
- Reverse engineer or decompile our software
- Interfere with platform operation or infrastructure
- Probe for security vulnerabilities (except through our bug bounty program)
1.10 Misinformation
You may not deliberately spread:
- Health misinformation that could cause physical harm
- Election misinformation that undermines democratic processes
- Manipulated media presented as authentic (deepfakes without disclosure)
- Conspiracy theories promoting violence
- False information about disasters or emergencies
2. Prohibited Campaigns and Fundraising
2.1 Personal Fundraising
Our platform is for verified nonprofits, businesses, and individual creators hosting legitimate events. You may not fundraise for:
- Personal medical expenses
- Personal debt or bills
- Personal emergencies
- Individual education costs
- Individual business ventures that are not tied to a vetted event or community program
2.2 Prohibited Causes
You may not create campaigns for:
- Political candidates or partisan political activities
- Discriminatory organizations or causes
- Hate groups or extremist organizations
- Pyramid schemes or multi-level marketing
- Get-rich-quick schemes or investment opportunities
- Gambling, lotteries, or raffles (unless legally permitted)
- Weapons, ammunition, or explosives
- Tobacco, vaping products, or recreational drugs
- Bail funds or legal defense for violent crimes
2.3 Prohibited Fundraising Practices
You may not:
- Fundraise without proper organizational authorization
- Misuse or misappropriate donated funds
- Fail to register with state authorities when required
- Promise benefits that can't be delivered
- Use high-pressure tactics or misleading urgency claims
- Promise specific medical outcomes or guaranteed results
3. Account and Platform Use
3.1 Account Restrictions
You may not:
- Create multiple accounts to evade restrictions
- Share your account with others
- Sell, transfer, or sublicense your account
- Create accounts using false information
- Use accounts for ages under 18 (must be 18+)
3.2 Automated Use
You may not use automated systems without permission:
- Bots or scripts that access the platform
- Web scrapers or data harvesters
- Automated account creation
- Mass automated messaging
4. Enforcement
4.1 Violations
If you violate this Acceptable Use Policy, we may:
- Issue a Warning: For first-time or minor violations
- Remove Content: Delete violating content or campaigns
- Suspend Account: Temporarily suspend access (7-30 days)
- Terminate Account: Permanently ban you from the platform
- Withhold Funds: Freeze payouts pending investigation
- Report to Authorities: Report illegal activity to law enforcement
- Legal Action: Pursue civil or criminal proceedings
4.2 Investigation Process
When investigating violations:
- We may temporarily suspend accounts or content during investigation
- We may request additional information or documentation
- We may cooperate with law enforcement
- We are not required to provide advance notice before enforcement
4.3 Appeals
To appeal an enforcement action:
- Email appeals@oms2.org within 30 days
- Include your account information and explanation
- Provide any supporting evidence
- We will review appeals within 10 business days
- Our decision is final
5. Reporting Violations
If you see content or behavior that violates this policy:
Include in your report:
- Link to the content or profile
- Description of the violation
- Screenshots or evidence
- Your contact information (for follow-up)
6. Cooperation with Law Enforcement
We cooperate with law enforcement and may:
- Respond to valid legal requests for user information
- Report suspected illegal activity
- Preserve evidence for investigations
- Testify in legal proceedings if required
7. Liability and Indemnification
You are responsible for your use of the platform. By using our services, you agree to indemnify us from any claims, damages, or legal fees arising from your violations of this Acceptable Use Policy.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy to address new risks or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes by email or platform notice. Continued use after changes indicates acceptance.
